The songs of West Australian JOEL SMOKER are an exploration. His songs take you to the people and places of rural Australia and yet still have relevance to urban Australians. Joel has recorded these songs on four albums, Out on Highway One, Outback, The Flesh and the Spirit, his most recent CD, Smile, and his 2005 EP of four songs about the north-west titled, The Road to Nullagine.

As with the previous releases, Joel has enlisted the help of veteran musician and producer, Lucky Oceans, to record this album. On Smile Joel uses his songwriting skills to look at the passage of time and how it affects us all.

His new single When I Become A Country Music Star is an ironical look at celebrity culture and the music industry.
