Sydney band TWANG BABY is a happy accident - a chance reunion late in 2006 of these five professional musicians and writers when asked to work on an album project for the ABC. They subsequently wrote a song that won an award in the International Songwriting Competition, and Twang Baby was born.
In 2007 they have been writing and recording their debut album, flying in renowned Nashville producer Nick Brophy, and securing a record deal with Don Bartley from Benchmark.
Vocalist and lyricist Mishelle Bradford-Jones explains the hauntingly lovely single Mary Valley Train “In the beautiful Mary Valley (near Gympie) the residents are having to deal with devastating change because of the proposed Traveston Dam. The song is lamenting simpler times and making a comment on the stress and strain put on the people in this rapidly growing area.”
