Celebrating what would have been SIR DONALD BRADMAN’s 100th birthday on 27 August, 2008, KAMAHL and GREG CHAMPION have written and released a single I Was A Mate Of Don Bradman. The infectious song, sung by Kamahl, and featuring Champs, is guaranteed to put a smile on everyone’s face.

The song came about from a discussion that Greg Champion had with Coodabeen Champions colleague Ian Cover about Kamahl’s love for cricket and his friendship with the Don. On hearing the story, Greg was inspired to write the song for Kamahl who came on board to co-write the lyric.

Kamahl is excited on two counts: “Firstly, it gives me a chance to pay tribute to Sir Don and to promote the Bradman Foundation. And, secondly, the opportunity to do my first novelty song after 50 years in the business.”
