GRAND JUNCTION has won many awards including the inaugural Star Maker Quest, a Golden Guitar and a MO award. It's been 28 years since they last recorded together, but now Grand Junction has reformed, written, recorded and produced a new album aptly titled The Return, released January 2009. This is unique in itself. The album showcases the band's versatility and covers a wide spectrum of country music styles.
Their first single in 28 years, written by lead guitarist Doug Rowe, is given the typical Grand Junction treatment of 5 part harmonies and impeccable musicianship. The song Turnback Boys (the horsemen who chase after calves in the calf roping and cattle cutting events at rodeos) is based on a true story with a touch of poetic licence.
It's a welcome return for this seminal Australian country band.
